Geo Quarries Ltd appoints administrator

We are reading reports that the building products firm with a major quarry in Little Ponton, Geo Quarries Ltd, has appointed Dow Schofield Watts (DSW) as administrator. The company had previously filed for administration and have now brought in Lisa Moxon of DSW to look after the day-to-day running of the company. The company’s last unaudited accounts were filed in January, for the period to the end of April 2023. At this time Geo Quarries employed 37 people.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make these kinds of immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
