166 jobs lost as Axis Studios Group Ltd collapses into administration

We are sorry to read reports that the Glasgow-based animation and special effects studio with a site in Bristol, Axis Studios Group Ltd (Axis Studios), has collapsed into administration after struggling with labour costs and severe cash flow problems.

Alistair McAlinden and Geoff Jacobs of Interpath Advisory have been appointed joint administrators. It is reported that 166 staff have been made redundant, although a small number will be retained by the administrators to assist with the winding down of the business.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
