£40,000 Awarded Following a Delayed Diagnosis
Our medical negligence solicitors have successfully secured £40,000 compensation after a Claimant suffered due to a delayed diagnosis.
The Claimant suffered negligence by GPs who failed to undertake a thorough examination in relation to a potential Achilles tendon rupture.
The delay in identifying the rupture meant that an operation was essential. Following this the Claimant developed a serious infection, which required various painful procedures over several years.
The infection had a serious debilitating impact on the Claimant, making them housebound for a period of 2 years and they needed substantial care from friends and family.
As a result, the Claimant was left with extensive scarring and ongoing mobility restrictions.
Our investigation
Our team undertook an initial investigation which involved obtaining evidence from a GP and an Orthopaedic expert.
A Letter of Claim was submitted to the Defendant GPs. In their Letters of Response liability was disputed. Court proceedings were issued, and the case was eventually settled.
Throughout the process our team provided vital guidance to the Claimant, and we were available to answer any questions over the telephone or in person.
Roisin Hulme, Medical Negligence Solicitor at Morrish Solicitors said:
“We are pleased to have secured a settlement for this client after a complex litigation process. This was a lifechanging injury which left the client debilitated for several years. Whilst the payment cannot change what has happened it will provide recognition that mistakes have been made which can be learned from.”
