70 jobs lost as SH Structures Ltd enters administration
We are now reading reports that the the Sherburn in Elmet-based steel fabrication business, SH Structures Ltd, has now entered administration with a loss of about 70 jobs. Andrew Mackenzie and Louise Longley of Begbies Traynor were appointed as joint administrators of SH Structures Ltd on 4 April 2024.
Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:
- 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
- There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.
