Reporting an Occupational Disease
An occupational disease is a health condition, illness or disease which is caused by your work environment or activities relating to your work. For example, most asbestos induced diseases (for example Mesothelioma), Hand-Arm vibration syndrome and occupational asthma.
A doctor will diagnose an occupational disease. They will identify any new symptoms or significant worsening of existing symptoms.
How to Report an Occupational Disease
Following diagnosis work-related diseases must be reported to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) via their website.
Occupational diseases include:
- Asbestos induced diseases such as Mesothelioma
- Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Repetitive Strain Injury
- Tinnitus
- Occupational Dermatitis
