We’re pleased to announce a new senior appointment to our employment team and growth in the team’s remit. Damian Kelly joins us to lead a new team carrying out professional conduct and regulatory work.
Due to increased demand for advice and representation in the area of professional conduct and regulatory work, Damian Kelly, who joins the firm as a senior solicitor, has become the head of the new professional conduct and regulatory team.
Damian is a senior solicitor with over 25 years’ experience working in employment law. He has worked in-house at firms across the UK and operated his own niche law firm for 15 years, specialising in employment rights, professional conduct and regulatory law. After graduating at Queen’s University, Belfast in Law, he continued his studies at Leeds Beckett University, before completing his legal studies at the College of Law in York.

He has successfully acted in high profile cases for professional clients including sports personalities, police officers and police support staff, solicitors and barristers, journalists, doctors, dentists and directors in cases including UK regulatory bodies, leading UK PLC’s, non-UK companies and public sector organisations.
Damian is proud of his family links, dating back as far as 1930, to the trade union movement and as well as being a former shop steward for a trade union, he has represented and act for public sector staff who are trade union officials and members.
Damian said of his appointment: “I am delighted to have taken up a position with Morrish Solicitors as Head of Professional Conduct and Regulatory Law, based in the employment department.
Since training with the firm of the late Victor Zermansky in Leeds and operating as a solicitor since 1994, I have practised primarily in the Leeds and Yorkshire area but with a geographical reach across the UK and Ireland as well as further abroad. I am delighted to bring my skills and abilities to a firm with the great heritage that exists in Morrish.”
Our expanded employment rights team will focus on developing and growing its services to union members and private clients to include professional conduct and regulatory work. Damian will lead on and develop this new team’s remit for individuals who are potentially subject to the regulatory spotlight within their profession or business sector. These individuals can be employees but can also be self-employed.
Damian continued: “I am looking forward to developing the professional conduct and regulatory work which is an important area of legal need and which has a substantial overlap with employment-related rights for trade unions and others.
I also feel that I have come home such is the welcome I have received at Morrish. It is clearly a firm that understands the needs of clients and has a team of professionals in the employment department, led by Daniel Kindell, that is second to none.”
Daniel Kindell, Head of Employment said: “We’re delighted that Damian has joined the team, bringing his wealth of expertise and creating the opportunity to grow one of our key services to individuals in the workplace. Damian is a driven, ambitious solicitor with a passion for protecting people’s rights.
