56 jobs lost as G J F fabrications Ltd collapses into administration
We are sorry to now be reading reports that the Walsall-based metal fabrication firm, G J F Fabrications Ltd, collapsed into administration. Administrators from Grant Thornton were appointed on Tuesday 20 August. It is reported that upon appointment, 56 of the company’s 62 employees were made redundant. We have also been contacted by former employees of the company further confirming that redundancies have been made.
Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make these kinds of immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:
- 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
- There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.
If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
