Bugibba Independent Ltd placed into administration by Project D
We are sorry to be reading reports that the Derby-based doughnut manufacturing business, Bugibba Independent Ltd, had been placed into administration by producer and retailer, Project D. The Business Desk reports that the company has “had to make a number of redundancies across both the bakery and office teams.”
Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:
- 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
- There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.
