Didsbury Gin collapses into liquidation

We are sorry to read reports that Alderman’s Drinks Ltd, the company behind Manchester-based spirits brand Didsbury Gin, has gone into liquidation.

The business appeared on BBC’s Dragons Den in 2018, securing a £75,000 investment from former Dragon Jenny Campbell. However, the company now owes over £200,000 to creditors. Gareth Howarth from Path Business Recovery has been appointed liquidator of Alderman’s Drinks Ltd, trading as Didsbury Gin.

Unfortunately in these circumstances, it is common for immediate redundancies to be made, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
