F.A. Gill Ltd posts second notice of intention to appoint administrators

We have recently read reports that the Midlands-based pork producer and wholesaler, F.A. Gill Ltd (also known as Gills Sausages), has filed a second notice of intention to appoint administrators through Addleshaw Goddard. In its last accounts before it was acquired, Gills employed 211 staff. As of Tuesday 14 May 2024, we have been contacted by former employees who have confirmed that redundancies have been made.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
