Nailsea Electrical Ltd enters administration

We are sorry to read reports that the Bristol-based electrical appliance company, Nailsea Electrical Ltd (NE Appliances), has announced that it is going into administration. The announcement was made on Facebook on Wednesday 5 June, with a follow up post on Friday 7 June stating that they are working with administrators.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.
