Over 150 jobs lost as J.S. Wright & Co. Limited collapses into administration

We are sorry to read reports that the Birmingham-headquartered building services provider, J.S. Wright & Co. Limited, has collapsed into administration along with sister company Wright Maintenance Limited. This has resulted in the loss of 152 jobs between the two companies. Raj Mittal and Benjamin Jones of FRP Advisory have been appointed as joint administrators.

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
