Accident & Illness Abroad Solicitors

An accident or illness abroad can be a traumatic and stressful experience for you and your loved ones. Not only can dealing with the injury or illness cause substantial anguish, disruption and expense but being in a foreign country without the vital supporting guidance that you need can also be very daunting.

We all know that it is almost impossible to plan for accidents or illnesses. No one believes it will happen to them but every year thousands of business and holiday makers suffer injury or illness whilst on foreign soil.

There are laws in place to protect you and ensure that, where necessary, you have a right to claim compensation in respect of an accident and/or illness you have suffered.

Make an Accident & Illness Abroad Claim

If you have been involved in an accident or developed an illness whilst abroad on holiday you may be able to claim compensation for both your injuries and in certain circumstance you may be able to even recover the cost of your holiday or in the alternative damages for loss of enjoyment of your holiday.

If your holiday was part of a package, your tour operator is bound by “the package travel, package holidays and package tour regulations”. These regulations are a complex piece of law which ensure that if you do suffer an accident or illness abroad, not only can you claim compensation from your tour operator, but you can do so within the UK Courts.

A claimant is generally entitled to recover compensation in relation to an injury or illness providing evidence can be adduced by the Claimant to prove the standards fell short of those applicable in the country where the accident happened. This is why it is vitally important potential Claimants should seek expert legal advice on the merits of pursuing such claims.

At Morrish Solicitors we can help you recover the compensation you deserve if you have suffered an accident or illness abroad. The amount of compensation you receive will depend upon the circumstance of your case, the nature of the injuries you have suffered or illness you have developed. We can help you claim compensation not only for the pain and suffering caused by your accident or illness but also for any financial losses that you have suffered such as loss of earnings or medical expenses.

It is important to remember that there is a time limit in which you must bring such claims. For most claims in the UK this is 3 years but the limitation period does vary from country to country. This is why it’s extremely important if you have suffered either an injury or illness abroad and you feel you may have the basis of a claim for compensation you seek legal advice at the earliest opportunity.
