SL Transport UK Ltd falls into administration

We are unfortunately reading reports that the Wiltshire based haulage firm, SL Transport UK Ltd, has fallen into administration. The company appointed Richard Cole and Steve Kenny of KBL Advisory to oversee the winding up of the business on September 5. In it’s latest reporting period, SL Transport UK employed 22 staff. 

Unfortunately, it is common for administrators to make these kinds of immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.
