Stapleford Park Ltd collapses into liquidation

We are unfortunately reading reports that around 100 jobs have been lost at the four-star hotel and country retreat near Melton Mowbray. Stapleford Park Hotel (Stapleford Ltd), has entered liquidation and Alex Cadwallader and Neil Bennett of Leonard Curtis have been appointed as joint liquidators. The company emailed its members confirming that it ceased trading on Wednesday 16 October.

Unfortunately in these circumstances, it is common for immediate redundancies, without prior warning or any consultation process. A failure to follow a consultation process could lead to employees being able to claim compensation from an Employment Tribunal of up to 90 days’ pay. Such a claim could be pursued if:

  • 20 or more people were made redundant at the same workplace; and
  • There was no information and consultation process, or it wasn’t carried out correctly prior to making redundancies.

If you have been made redundant and need advice, contact our employment team confidentially now for more information.

There are strict Tribunal deadlines within which to pursue these claims, so you mustn’t delay if you believe you may be affected.
