Train Conductor Awarded Compensation

A TSSA member was assaulted whilst on duty as a Train Conductor. He asked three men for their tickets. The men refused to show a valid ticket and the Member asked them to leave the station. One of the men head butted the Member and punched him twice causing physical and psychological injuries.

Originally the CICA refused to make an award because they considered that his injuries ‘were not serious for an award at the lowest level to be paid’.

An application for a review was submitted and the Member was awarded £1,000 in compensation from the CICA.

The Member said, “Please pass on my thanks to Fiona Daily who acted on my behalf for an excellent job well done I have just received a pay out from the Criminal compensation board. Thanks for all your advice and support.”
